Description

A fresh and inventive picture book about tolerance. Beegu is not supposed to be on Earth. She is lost. She is a friendly little creature, but the Earth People don?t seem very welcoming at all. However, so far she has only met the BIG ones. The little ones are another matter. This is a simple, bittersweet picture book that shows us our world through the three eyes of an innocent outsider with the help of stylish art and a wry, understated text. "Deacon's simple text follows Beegu on her wanderings; skillful pacing incorporates full-bleed spreads plus panel and spot illustrations. . .The accomplished artwork underscores the children's easy acceptance of Beegu and highlights the book's uplifting message that acts of kindness have lasting effects." --Publishers Weekly

Reviews

"Alexis Deacon's illustrations, with their stark, empty backgrounds, allow the almost luminous Beegu to stand out. This gives the lost creature an authentically childlike perspective, making her rejection and isolation all the more telling."
--"Guardian"
