For the very young, books can be anything from a chair to a hat, but the best thing they can be is . . . a book . . . And it's never too soon to share a good book with your little ones. The simple text, written by debut author Jane Blatt, is brought to life by Sarah Massini's delightful and nostalgic illustrations of babies and toddlers discovering the magical new world of books.
A joyful celebration of the physical book in all its glory!
Jane Blatt, mother of two grown-up children and spouse to an American scientist, lives and works in Glasgow. She is an experienced teacher of young children and an accomplished violinist. Working with the Nosy Crow Team 'has been great fun' and she hopes that this foray into the commercial world will not be her last! Jane believes that keeping real books alive through the play and learning of young children is vital to the continuance of the whole genre as well as being a basis for the later skills of reading and writing.Sarah's mum always said it was a blessing how paper and a pencil could keep her quiet and out of mischief for hours. Drawing has been a life-long habit that has seen her through careers in corporate design, children's book design and now as a successful illustrator . . . and illustrating is what she loves doing best. Sarah lives in Sussex with her husband, Peter, her young son, Mathew, and her utterly mad terrier, Tess, who keeps guard as she draws.
